Encounters
Every lock is recorded for an encounter of a raid or dungeon. The session shows the activity most of the fireteam is in and selects the first encounter whenever the fireteam moves to another raid or dungeon. After every lock the next encounter is selected automatically. The session host can pick any raid, dungeon or encounter next to the lock button at any time, e.g. for raids where the encounter order is up to you.
Locking the same encounter again right away, e.g. after changing loadouts for another attempt, updates the loadouts of that encounter in the session history instead of adding another entry.
FAQ
Why does the current activity lag behind?
The session asks Bungie for the activities and loadouts of the fireteam about once a minute while somebody has the session open. Bungie itself also only updates this information with a delay, so it can take a minute or two after launching an activity until the session shows it.
Why does every person have to sign in?
You may be familiar with other apps like the Verity Tool which does not require the whole fireteam to sign in. This tool on the other hand requires every fireteam member to sign in. The reasons for that are twofold:
The primary reason for the login requirements is enabling interactivity within the tool. Functionality like the unlock voting is made much more convenient with access to the API for each fireteam member. It allows me to pull in-game names, character classes and more that makes it feel more complete.
Having every fireteam member sign in independently also allows me to optimise when the Destiny 2 API is queried for each person. The API caches things like your equipped weapons or armor for a certain amount of time upon being requested, meaning that changes you make to your loadout will not update in the API for some time. This tool synchronises API requests which increases the chances of getting an updated response while reducing unnecessary outgoing requests.
